Australian rock legends The Angels and The Superjesus will headline a free community concert at Leichhardt Oval as thousands gather for a final celebration before the historic venue closes for redevelopment.

One Last Roar will take place on Saturday, 19 September, and will be the first major live music event ever held on the oval’s playing surface. The all-ages event will also feature local acts LAHGO and Good Pash, family activities, food stalls and live entertainment.

Local super group Oz Icons featuring rugby league legend Wayne Pearce also will take the stage.

To round out the fun at the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World‘, Pro Wrestling Australia (PWA) will bring their high-flying action, big characters and spine-tingling athleticism to a pop-up wrestling ring.

One Last Roar won’t be the last time Leichhardt Oval hosts music events. It’s a signal of what’s to come.

The renovation will begin soon after the curtain falls and will incorporate design elements to ensure that music and live performance are part of the oval’s future.

The Inner West Mayor said: “The free concert is Council’s way of saying thanks to our community who have fought to save this iconic ground for decades.”

“There’s no place like Leichhardt Oval, and our community knows that, and we have secured funding to upgrade this iconic ground for athletes and fans of men’s and women’s football, rugby league and rugby union.”

“The crowd at Leichhardt Oval is always rocking, but this will be the first time there’s been rock and roll on the field.“

“We’re expecting this to be a party not to be missed as we toast to the past and look forward to an exciting new chapter.“
